With the mileage I’m clocking, it is to be expected that you will need to buy new tyres every now and then.
More tubes for sure, but the tyres will eventually wear out to the point where you’ll need 3 tubes every ride…
Last Saturday, before going to the movies, I entered the LBS for a pair of tyres.
While I would have liked a Trek Daemon, I was allowed to buy a Trek Émonda.
This post is about how I got away with that…
In 2020, I traded my Sensa for a Trek.
I got the Domane SL 5, which is just above entry level for Trek 😂
(It was around € 3,000 at the time, they are more expensive now…)
When I got my SpeedMax CF8 a year later, which came with Sram eTap AXS electronic shifting – and “wireless” at that – I was sure I’d never go back to mechanical shifting.
Okay, yes, I got my Sonora MTB this year and it has mechanical shifting, but that was just an extra “fun bike”, costing less than the fork for my SpeedMax…
Mid April, I got my Canyon SpeedMax CF 8 Disc Sram Force eTap AXS and I’m writing this post to give you my impressions of it.
After the LBS put it together, I took it out for a first spin on April 15th.
I took some kit with me to make (minor) adjustments, as the bike was set to match the Sensa Dura Integra‘s position and I have experienced before that this never works out.
Well, as expected, we’re already over 3 months into 2021 and although vaccination has started, the outlook for any return to normalcy is still grim.
But, as there’s enough to read about that elsewhere and my blog is mostly about happy things, I want to share something else.
As I mentioned in my “New Year’s” post, I had my eye on the Canyon SpeedMax ever since I rode one in September last year.
