With the help of Mapdirector1, I’ve created “cinematic flyovers” of some of my Giro d’Italia stages.

I mean, the UCI Grand Tour organizers do it, so it’s only logical I do so as well 😂

As my roadbook is not completely finished, I have made these clips only for the stages that are “final”.

Bormio Part 1

Prologue

Grande Partenza in Switzerland with the Flüela, Ofenpass and Umbrail.

Stage 1

If I want to complete all planned climbs on the 100 Greatest list, I should cycle Monte Padrio (#32) now to be safe, even if I may have a stage “left” in part 2…

I planned this as a loop with Trivigno on the return, but I might forfeit that part…

Stage 2 – Mapei Day

I may cycle Bormio 2000 or Torri di Fraele too. Or one of the climbs near the apartment…

Dolomites Bike Days

Stage 3 – Day 1

Palade (#40) and Mendola (#41), both new.

Stage 4 – Day 2

Falzarego (#58) and Costalunga (#43) as new entries, Gardena (#53) PR attempt (?)

It’s not in the flyover, but I will get down to Selva di Val Gardena to visit my favorite shop, the Hero Mall

Stage 5 – Return to Bormio

Val Martello for sure, Stelvio – with car transfer to Prato – maybe…

Val Martello is new and if I cycle the Stelvio (#37), it would be for a PR attempt.

However, it may come up again in a stage with Grasshopper

Türkiye 🤝 Holanda

Stages 6 – 9

See my previous post on this – Stelvio and Gavia mandatory, possibly from both ends, Mortirolo maybe.

The latter, and in fact much, will depend on how Grasshopper does and / or if he can indeed spend every day on the bike 😎

Bormio Part 2

The order of these stages may change and they require (long) car transfers…

Stage 1x

I’m not sure what I will do if I have this day left to be filled in.

That depends on whether or not I will ride an extra stage with grasshopper.

If I do have this “extra” day, I’ll do something easier close to the apartment and it would go between any of the stages with car transfers…

Even if I didn’t get to cycle the Mortirolo with grasshopper, looking at the rest of the schedule of this part, I think I’ll pass on doing it on my own.

Stage 1x

Passo di San Marco (#28) and not much else, given the long car transfer Bormio – Morbegno and vice versa…

Stage 1x

I hope I can combine Croce Domini (#30) and Vivione (#29) or I will need another day, which would (then) be the stage I have left.

And I may reverse the order of the two climbs…

Stage 1x

Montecampione (#31) is even further out than San Marco, so “just” this one and another long car transfer…

Prologue

The Resia Pass may be skipped, depending on travel, and a car transfer from that summit to Prutz would be likely if I do.

The Kaunertaler Gletcherstrasse downhill would be fun, but I’m pretty sure that for this descent, (in) the car would be faster 😎

  1. Looking forward to seeing Türkiye & Hollanda.

Gavia & Stelvio possibly both ways.
Grasshopper thinks and hopes to recover to cycle everyday 🙂
