Sondrio

The province of Sondrio or Valtellina, after the major valley of the province, is a province in the Lombardy region of Italy.
The province borders on the Swiss Canton of Graubünden to the north, the provinces of Como and Lecco to the west, the province of Bergamo to the south and the provinces of Brescia, Trento and Bolzano to the east.
Most valleys run from north to south, the main ones being the Valtellina, Valcamonica and Valchiavenna.
The mountains are mostly in the Bernina and Ortler ranges of the Rhaetian Alps, the Stelvio, Gavia and Bernina are the more famous passes.
Sondrio is also home to the infamous Mortirolo.
Main municipalities are Bormio and Livigno, tourist centres in the summer and ski resorts in the winter.
