Hochsauerland 2025

Saturday June 14, we will once again depart for a week in Hochsauerlandkreis.

The area is one of Germany’s cycling mecca’s of “mid-range hills”.

The Hochsauerland hills will bring you up to just over 800 meters which is slightly higher than the Eifel, but over 600 meters short of the Feldberg in the Black Forest.

However, the Black Forest is a lot further away…

For the 6th time, our base camp will be in Medebach and we will stay in the same apartment as the previous three years.

And for the 4th time, the trip is the final training event for my grand tour, the Giro d’Italia 2025 in this case.

It’s even closer to the start of that as usual, because when we get back, the Giro is less than 3 weeks away…

As Bike Arena Sauerland is no longer offering downloadable tracks – you can only buy a printed map – I’ve subscribed to Wikiloc.

There are a lot of routes to be found there and I’ve saved some to my “HSK” list, to be evaluated as possible stages.

There aren’t many new climbs left, but I can probably add more “new kilometers” to my Wandrer profile.

So far, I’ve created my Prologue, trying to get as many new kilometers in as possible: 104.5 from 107.

Not a bad start 😎
