Yes, it is clear that spring has started this week.
Whether that is meteorological, astronomical or calendar-related, it doesn’t matter to us.
We can enjoy the first real and (especially if you are sheltered) warm rays of sunshine outside en masse!
On to the paths, into the avenues…
Walking a brisk pace, or on your bike of course.
No more slogging through the mud or, if you do ride on the road, getting a flat tire every 5 kilometers.
No, just wearing shorts and – if you like a challenge – even wear a short-sleeved shirt.
Team AD6 Tweets also cycles laps around the local churches.
Every bridge or overpass is used to further improve the “climbing capabilities”.
There will never be a Dutch mountain, but that Alpe d’HuZes will certainly be a 30 million piece of cake!
Our sporting contribution is on par, but the financial contribution is lacking.
The sponsor barometer (or is it a thermometer?) is close to €16,000 Euro.
We aim for €30.000, but “must” bring at least €20.000 – 8 x 2.5 – anyway.
We need a few well-known finishing touches, but “so help me God”, we will get that done too!
And yet something is nagging at me.
Not that I’m falling behind (in training), I’ll catch up. Anyone can bluff and I’m a master at it.
No, I finally crash hard off my bike and I didn’t even break my collarbone, while that is almost a requirement for any decent cyclist!
I’m not looking forward to or aiming for a rematch, because I’m already really enjoying my broken and bruised ribs.
But still, I am a bit of a schlemiel…
Well, I’m off to find a sheltered spot in the sun, to sit in my garden chair, while my teammates are working up a sweat.
Show horses and work horses and all that.
