Cyclopaat, an alter ego with a twist
We revisited the Bozel Valley today, to add some lesser-known climbs to the “Been There, Done That” list.
Lesser-visited as well, I guess – I ended up taking 10th place on a climb, which for sure means that the segment is hardly visited.
And indeed, I’m now 10th from 15…
Today’s stage started near our doorstep, with a 12-kilometer climb.
While that was already a daring adventure, it was nothing compared to the next col on the list.
That would bring me to almost 2,000 meters, with a stunning view at the summit.
It all but finished me off…
We didn’t want to travel far – by car – today and the remaining “must do” require a long car transfer, so they will have to wait
That means no cols on the VeloViewer “Hot 100” list today, but I had my hands full with the ones I climbed close to Albertville.
Paula did drive me to Ugine, where my first climb started.
Stage 6 of my Tour de France brought me another col on the VeloViewer “100 Greatest” list.
As I couldn’t find a sensible route that would bring me another and I didn’t want to transfer by car, I cycled it from both ends.
With a short intermezzo up and down a split to spice up the stage, which I regretted once I started the return…
No new trophies today, as the weather forecast for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes was looking grim: thunderstorm, rain, 60 kph wind (gusts)…
Everywhere except in Modane.
Which is where the climb up the Iseran is starting, if you really want a challenge.
