Yesterday I ticked of two passes on the “100 Greatest” list, so I have two left.
As I didn’t want to go south of Edolo again, we drove to the far (west) end of the Valtellina valley for the Passo San Marco (#28).
After a coffee in Morbegno right at the bottom of the climb, I got on the bike for another long – 26 kilometers – climb.
I was actually feeling I was doing alright for the first hour or so, but I quickly lost that feeling during the second part.
Apart from a 4 kilometer easier section, the grades were way too much for comfort and the final 5 kilometers felt like it would never end.
Obviously, no refuge at the summit, so I changed clothes and went down – this descent was fun at least.
The ride back to Bormio was not, but I fell asleep and missed most of it…
