No “AM” and “PM” stage today, every col was stitched nicely to the descend of the previous one.
Well, not the first one, obviously, and I had to descend all the way to Saint-Jean-de-Sixt and return the way I came to tackle another col on the ClimbFinder “100 Greatest” list.
We did transfer by car to Thônes for the Col de la Croix-Fry,
Double digit grades a few times, but otherwise not difficult.
On a good day and/or when fresh 😂
We descended to Saint-Jean-de-Sixt for the Col des Aravis – this was the first col not throwing double digits at me this week.
The summit is at the Savoie/Haute-Savoie border, and it was very crowded.
But we did find a spot to sit and have a coffee, apple pie and a lollipop for in my bottles.
Straight out of the flying descent, in Flumet you cross the busy Route de Megève and start climbing the Col des Saisies.
I’ve done the other end from Villard-sur-Doron in 2014, and that end is a bit harder to climb.
The distance is the same, but the other end bridges 200 meters of D+ more.
The only double digit stretch on this end of the Saisies was some 2 kilometers from the summit and it hurt…
Another flying descent and some freewheeling towards Albertville, waiting for Paula to catch up, later, I tossed the bike in the car when she did.
Total for today: 82.12 kilometers and 2,338 meters of D+.
