Tour de France 2024 – Stage 2

Tour de France LogoStage 2 of my Tour de France 2024 brought me one new col for my “Been There, Done That” list.

I mean, I’ve cycled to the Courchevel Altiport before, but that was when I came from the Col de La Loze descend.

For the VeloViewer “100 Greatest” list, I needed to cycle the whole thing.

But first, I cycled La Plagne again as I didn’t start or end at the right spot for that one to count before either.

Twice…

The climb was as tough as I remembered, but there was again nothing to do at the summit, or even in La Plagne itself.

I therefor descended back to Aime.

Originally, I had planned to then cycle Plan-Pichu as it is at the other end of the valley.

But on the way down to Aime, I realized that Courchevel was on the hot 100 list as well.

So, I changed my stage to include Courchevel instead.

To save time, I ended my ride, got in the car and Paula delivered me near Brides-les-Bains.

Courchevel is not any easier than La Plagne and part two of today’s stage was much like part one, although Courchevel has more lively spots along the route.

In fact, the two profiles are near identical – the one for Courchevel on Climbfinder is a bit off, as it puts the start in Villarlurin…

Anyway, today’s stage, part one and two combined, totaled 88.5 kilometers with 3,006 meters of D+.
